Millennium Churches, Italy

Approximately 50 Millennium churches where commissioned to celebrate 2000 years of Christianity though an initiative of Saint, Pope John Paul II. I’ve had the opportunity to visit two of these churches regularly with students during summer study abroad trips. The first church, La Chiesa del Dio Padre Misericordioso (God our merciful Father), more commonly known as the “Jubilee Church,” by American architect Richard Meier, and is in a suburb just outside of Rome. The second church, Chiesa di San Paolo Apostolo (St. Paul the Apostle), by the Italian Architects Massimiliano and Doriana Fuksas is in Foligno, Italy. This gallery is a collection of sketches from several visits drawing with students.
