Assis, Italy

Assisi is a small medieval town in Umbria, just a few hours north of Rome. It is most famously known as the home of St. Francis, a medieval saint from the 12th Century. I have traveled to Assisi regularly since 2011. During this trips I have been a pilgrim, and educator and an artist-in-residence at Arte Studio Ginestrelle. In these trips, my sketchbook has been a primary method for recording the rich history of sacred architecture and space. This is a selection of sketches from over the years.
