Assisi, Italy
Assisi is a small medieval town in the Umbrian region of Italy, just a few hours north of Rome. It is most famously known as home of St. Francis, a medieval saint from the 12th Century. I have traveled to Assisi regularly since 2011. During this time I have lead study abroad programs, been an artist in residence at Arte Studio Ginestrella several summer, but foremost as a pilgrim. During these trips, my sketchbook has become my primary method for recording the rich history of sacred architecture and space. This is a selection of sketches from over the years.
